We know that Softbank, not DoCoMo or KDDI, the number and two carrier in Japan, will release the iPhone to the Japanese. But few have realized the implication of this. An online study conducted by iSHARE illustrates what exactly this means: iPhone will not be a big sell in Japan. Only 9% of people between 20 and 49 says they will buy an iPhone. Now, unless Japanese teens have money for a smartphone and the older Japanese population gets interested with multi-touch and the virtual keyboard, the iPhone is destined for semi-anonymity there. Unless Apple decides to put in a 1-SEG tuner. Even in Japan, the iPhone screen resolution is quite advanced, if nothing else meets Japanese requirements.

Sony Ericsson F305 is The Nintendo Wii of Mobile Phones. Among the new mobile phones announced by Sony Ericsson this week, the F305 is perhaps the most innovative and features something different. The F305 puts gaming it the heart of Sony’s latest phone release, so to speak with its motion gaming feature. This system lets users control games with the flick of a wrist or the swing of the arm and then let them see the results straightaway on the screen. Think of it as the Nintendo Wii of mobile phones.

For its gaming features, the F305 features a horizontal gaming mode, Cross key + dedicated gaming buttons, 3D games, gaming shortcut key, stereo speakers, Play Now, JAVA MIDP 2.0 support, media player that supports MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+, TrackID, FM Radio, and Bluetooth (A2DP).

So far we have been staying out of the speculation field on different Bold release dates that have been floating around. On the other hand I just got some hard evidence from one of our readers Oren that the Bold will be released on Vodaphone on July 30th. I know this is later than the rumored Rogers or AT&T release but so far I can’t confirm or deny that. Hopefully Vodaphone readers will be happy about the news.

The big Cherri Chiodo has released a theme that I know many of you will enjoy. The EURO2008 theme is a beautiful with custom icons and all. I really like these custom icons! The top bar is a bit hard to read since it is black on black but the look is nice. You have to like red to enjoy the theme but it does have a great appeal.
