Nokia Maps 2.0

A partial list of the updated features in Nokia Maps 2.0 includes:

DRIVE:
- Improved optional Car Navigation equals PND-level car navigation experience with faster routing.
- Easy-to-use, updated User Interface features including a new navigation carousel with pre-defined navigation views – i.e. navigation, arrow, bird-eye.
- Top-of-the-line navigation features: signposts, multi-stop route planner

WALK:
- Optional pedestrian navigation efficiently walks you from A to B with visual guidance. It helps you to locate yourself by giving information about the surrounding buildings, streets and parks and, if the device supports it, notifies the direction you are walking.

Nokia Maps 2.0

Nokia has moved its Maps 2.0 application out of beta and it is now available in it’s final form. Maps 2.0 provides both walking and driving directions, as well as points-of-interest data.

Updates include enhanced pedestrian navigation, new satellite images and support for integrated compass orientation. Nokia announced today that its highly anticipated update for Nokia Maps has left beta stage and is now ready for consumers to download.

AT&T
AT&T‘s Chief of Mobility, Ralph de la Vega, was recently quoted as saying that his company intends to offer data speeds of up to 20Mbps on its network by 2009. AT&T has previously committed to using the yet-to-be-standardized LTE technology for its next-generation 4G network. I was flipping through my local newspaper today when I saw a full page ad for Fido. Even though the Windows Mobile smartphones from Fido haven’t even been out for that long, the Canadian dog is quickly slashing prices on the devices. Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8330

Geek reviews the Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8330:

The Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8330 itself hasn’t changed much and still sports a track ball, Micro-SD card slot, Bluetooth, 2MP camera, and integrated GPS. Sprint’s own flavor is the key differentiator though, with connectivity to the Sprint Software Store, Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV and Sprint OnDemand, among others.

I played with Sprint TV, which worked perfectly thanks to the EVDO connectivity, and a number of other applications. They all worked flawlessly and the bright color screen on the Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8330 made it a pleasure to use.
