There was a time when Windows Mobile was one of the most used operating system on smartphones and PDAs. But as the carefree times of Internet Explorer went on slipping away, so he went and market share of Windows Mobile. Microsoft had sex again in one ear and woke up that is far behind the competition in terms of technology.

Windows Phone is not a phone

Last week Google kid that we did not find a more inspired name for the buzz. Nor those from Microsoft not seem inspired. Windows Mobile version will be called from Windows 7 Phone.

The Global Mobile Awards jury decided: the phone of 2009 is smartphone HTC Hero. On the nominations list was found in May 9700 Blackberry Bold, Samsung Omnia HD, Samsung S5230 Star and Huawei U8220 (T-Mobile Pulse).

What can we say, we are happy that HTC Hero was elected, even if Omnia HD was preferred by most of us. Taiwanese smartphone is really valued and dignified facilities, despite some shortcomings such as inability to transfer files via Bluetooth or lack of advanced multimedia support, is back with a huge potential platform (Android). Applications will certainly appear to cover gaps.

Even if you have not heard a lot about the company Alcatel, which some time ago were in the state to impose standards in the mobile industry, this time they were reactivated and released several models of smart phones, in keeping with other players in the industry.

One of the models launched by them is OT-980 that targets specific Tattoo model from HTC, and between the specifications mentioned: Android 2.1, HSPA, Wireless LAN, AGPS, integrated compass and a 2.8 inch screen, 600 processor MHz and 192MB of RAM

For now this phone produced by LG is still in the prototype stage, but at launch is estimated that its price will be very high.

Verizon, just announced with Skype at MWC that they have created an exclusive easy to use Skype application for BlackBerrys. No word yet on the release date but they promise to have more information by next month. The upcoming Skype/Verizon application will allow you to:

* make and receive unlimited Skype-to-Skype voice calls to any Skype user around the globe
* call international phone numbers at competitive Skype Out calling rates
* send and receive instant messages to other Skype users
* remain always connected with the ability to see friends’ online presence

When launched the new Skype mobile application will be available for the BlackBerry Storm 9530, Storm2 9550, Curve 8330, Curve 8530, 8830 World Edition, and Tour 9630. I am really curious to know how Verizon has managed to get full VoIP working on BlackBerrys but I welcome it all the same. Compared to other smartphones which already have 3G Skype calling this is not really a game changer but for BlackBerry users who have yet to see a true VoIP solution this is huge!

RIM is just offering a free scaled down version of BlackBerry Enterprise server for small businesses and midsized companies who do not want to invest in a full blown BlackBerry Enterprise server. I really hope RIM has a consumer solution up their sleeve since this is just a cost effective watered down BES 5.0 corporate solution.

To summarize this new BES Express works with Exchange 2010, 2007, and 2003 running on Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 or 2008. HP has made such a sensitive accelerometer that can detect a change in position equal to the thickness of a hair. The sensor is part of the CENS (Central Nervous System for the Earth), which aims to build a global network of sensors to measure everything into the environment.

The device is so sensitive that can detect even heartbeat. The source of this sensitivity is a 5 mm chip built on three layers of silicon. The middle layer is suspended between two other lines of silicon using highly flexible. Thus, the chip moves, the center suspended “left behind” due to inertia. By measuring approx movement is calculated speed, direction and distance.

While the project will CenNSE ecological implications, the first practical use of the accelerometer will be the petroleum industry. Shell will use the sensor to detect oil fields, which will streamline the extraction process.

Toshiba announced the smartphone’s successor MWC TG01. The new device, Toshiba TG02, has a little more compact design and is 10 grams more easily.
