Currently, the most powerful mobile processors are based on Snapdragon clocked at 1 GHz. HTC, a company renowned for mobile devices with high-performance processor, but wants much more, and scoring on a smartphone to launch it this year may be rightly compared to a laptop, having a processor back to 1.5 GHz, all Snapdragon.

Android operating system will be version 2.1 or 2.2. On the connectivity, the HTC Libra will benefit including support WiMAX technology more widespread in Asia and the United States. Details have not been officially confirmed.

Yahoo! is active now in AsiaYahoo! has announced several new mobile initiatives for the Asia Pacific region, including five new Yahoo! oneSearch partnerships with leading mobile operators including Mahanagar Telephon Nigam Limited (India), Hong Kong CSL Limited, Smart Communications Inc. (Philippines), Digital Mobile Phlis, Inc. (Philippines) and Vibo Telecom Inc. (Taiwan), as well as strategic mobile advertising partnerships with Idea Cellular Ltd. (India) and Maxis Communications Bhd (Malaysia).
Additionally, Yahoo! announced localized versions of Yahoo! Go 3.0 for India, Australia and Southeast Asia, including a local language version for Indonesia, and an English version of Yahoo! oneSearch with voice that recognizes regional accents.

MWG Zinc II

Going all the way in Singapore, MWG which the smartphone arm of O2 in Asia has released a new smarthphone in the Singaporean market: the MWG Zinc II. The MWG Zinc II is a Windows Mobile 6.1 powered smarthphone which boasts of a slide-out keyboard. But the Zinc II’s keyboard has no real keys, instead the keyboard area is flat with raised bevels around the key areas.

The MWG Zinc also features a quick menu and it can be quickly launch using a touch button in the phone’s today screen. The quick menu features four functions/shortcuts which are the Windows Media Player, camera and games, pictures and videos. It also feature a finger swiping feature for accesing contacts and other short cuts. On its network connectivity features, the MWG Zinc II boasts of a 3.6mbps HSDPA speeds, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a GPS antenna. The GPS also features a nifty viewer.

These countries represent 3 regions Middle East Africa and Europe with Domincan Republic being the sole representative of the Caribbean. Last week it was SingTel who made the big announcement for Asia.

Orange is the French distributor of the iPhone and has been rumored to be testing the 3G version of the device. Will their new territories get the 3G their first chance? Let’s see…
