Vodafone Essar and Research in Motion (RIM) announced the launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 for Vodafone customers in India.

The network had already very successfully launched the BlackBerry Bold 9000, and the Bold 9700 continues to build on that success. Kumar Ramanathan, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Essar Ltd, said that “this launch reiterates our commitment towards providing our customers with superior products and services, which enables them to balance their professional and personal lives”.

Frenny Bawa, VP, RIM India, is also very pleased, stating that “we are very excited to introduce the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in India. This best in class smartphone will certainly appeal to Vodafone customers, offering a sleek and elegant design packed with powerful communications and entertainment features”.

The Bold 9700 supports 3G HSDPA networks, has the new 624MHz processor, 256MB RAM, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera capable of video recording.

This launch is another big step for RIM in Asia; India is the second-most populous country in the world, with demand for mobile phones increasing each year.

Ahead of an official February 2nd launch, Virgin Mobile’s Canadian branch today quietly rolled out its HSPA+ network and its first phones to take advantage of the new service, including iPhones. Features and pricing match those of its parent company Bell and give Virgin users up to 21Mbps downstream on supporting hardware as well as the same 93 percent national coverage thanks to a sharing deal with Telus. Those with at least a 500MB data plan get free Wi-Fi at Starbucks coffee shops.

Several new devices have joined the network in the gradual move away from CDMA and for now are all smartphone or data-only devices. The iPhone leads the group and shares the same 3-year contract pricing as Bell, at $100 to $300 depending on the iPhone 3G or 3GS model picked. Smartphone plans are the same for all devices and, in combo plans, start at $50 per month for 150 minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends, and 500MB of data. Tethering is bundled into all the plans, but only $80 (400 minutes, 2GB) and $100 (500 minutes, 3GB) plans have Visual Voicemail automatically included. Those in less expensive plans can pick from a ‘free’ bundle of either voicemail and call display or else unlimited MMS and SMS where both are included in the top two plans.

We first heard of the new C Series from Nokia last year along with Nokia’s X Series and we know the Nokia X6 smartphone has already seen launch, but all word of the Nokia C Series has been kind of quite.

However, according to an article over on fonearena is that Nokia may be gearing up to launch their new C Series of mobile phones due to some info from the Indonesian government that apparently suggest there will be two C models.

The models named are the Nokia C3 which is quad-band GSM with Bluetooth and WLAN, and the second is the Nokia C5, quad-band GSM UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA with bluetooth and that’s all the information available.

Nokia is expected to announce something new on the 26th of this month, but no one knows what, so maybe it will be the Nokia C Series, and as there is only a day’s wait left we will soon know.

Of course a company like Gigabyte, which has a “weight” considerable IT industry could not miss the ones that use operating system for mobile phones produced by Google – Android.

They plan to launch a smart phone with that operating system in the coming months, most likely in March, a model that still has an official name now appeared and its detailed specifications.

He will have a 2.8-inch diagonal screen with a resolution of 240×320, the 528MHz Qualcomm processor unfortunately will not support 3G but it compensates in some measure by wireless radio.

Also will have a GPS module, 2 megapixel camera, support MicroSD type memory and internal storage of 512MB.

The commercial launch, this “smart phone” will have a price around 300 USD.

Date of launch of XP Phone has not been made public yet, but the price of XP Phone is estimated between 400 and 650 U.S. dollars.

According to TechTree, XP Phone will cost as a next-generation smartphones (without subscription) and installation of Windows 7 should not be impossible, since the phone can still run Windows XP.

Here’s the technical specifications XP Phone:

Already for a long time to speculate that Microsoft is about to launch their latest version of mobile operating system, Windows 7, but it does not make another appearance on the market and so far no concrete information about it have appeared.

Many analysts have predicted Google’s Nexus One would sell between 5 and 6 million units by the end of 2010. According to data from app analytics firm Flurry, only about 20,000 Nexus Ones were sold in the first week since launch, January 5 through January 12.

Compared to the 250,000 Motorola Droids or the 1.5 million iPhone 3GS’s this figure is clearly a low number. Granted we can’t always trust third party analytics (which is exactly why we’re filing this under ‘Rumors’), data from Flurry still supported a much larger first week by the Droid and iPhone 3GS. When you consider Google did their best to keep the device a secret and really hasn’t explored much in the way of advertising outside of their website and own ad network, there is still a large potential for the device to grow. I think the tell-all sign of the Nexus One will come when the device launches officially on Verizon since T-mobile is still the smallest of the big four US carriers.
