Back in May, Google announced the imminent release of Android 2.2, codenamed Froyo, to great fanfare. Froyo brought with it JIT compiler that gives increased speed to the Android platform and applications, updates to the Google search bar and launcher, built in tethering, support for installing apps on the SD card, and all kinds of other tweaks and improvements.

Group has just announced that the 4.0 specification is now open for qualification, which, as we’ve heard, will include low-power, high-speed and classic modes.Bluetooth tends to be a moderate to significant drain on battery life, depending on the case, so odds are good the new spec will appeal to manufacturers on that basis.

Motorola FlipOut is an interesting Android phone.Already announced for O2 and Vodafone Germany, the FlipOut will also be released in the UK, and it looks like Orange is the first carrier to offer it.

Orange will sell the Motorola FlipOut both on pay as you go and pay monthly.Pricing details of FlipOut are not available yet.

Htc Droid will launch just in August “thanks” a big delay.There were plenty of rumors out there about what was happening, even to the extent that the premiere Android-based device was on the way out from Verizon, but it’s been pretty much confirmed that due to Samsung’s inability to keep up with demand (for HTC, not for themselves) for their AMOLED displays, the Droid Incredible is as uncommon as a Unicorn.
