HTC Hero, designated phone of the Global Mobile Awards

February 20, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - BlackBerry, Global Mobile Awards, HTC, Samsung

The Global Mobile Awards jury decided: the phone of 2009 is smartphone HTC Hero. On the nominations list was found in May 9700 Blackberry Bold, Samsung Omnia HD, Samsung S5230 Star and Huawei U8220 (T-Mobile Pulse).

What can we say, we are happy that HTC Hero was elected, even if Omnia HD was preferred by most of us. Taiwanese smartphone is really valued and dignified facilities, despite some shortcomings such as inability to transfer files via Bluetooth or lack of advanced multimedia support, is back with a huge potential platform (Android). Applications will certainly appear to cover gaps.

Google Nexus One Europe’s 3G compatible?

February 05, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - 3G, Google, Nexus One

Google Nexus One might launch U.S. mobile network operator AT & T after the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) would be OK given the model’s 3G networks of AT & T.

The “unknown” yet, but found the people at Engadget as bearing the code number NM899100 (same number as Google Nexus One) could be compatible with 3G networks WCDMA frequency bands I, II and V, indicating that this model can be used in Europe. The news seems to be scandal after many of those who bought mobile phone network T-Mobile assaulted support services, complaining that they have a good 3G signal.

Google has Nexus One 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The model is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 1 GHz and has 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The model has a 5 MP camera with flash and autofocus, face detection technology and geo-tagging function.

In the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong Google Nexus One can be purchased at less than 550 USD. In the spring of 2010, the new Google phone could be available in Europe for mobile operator Vodafone.

T-Mobile launches early upgrade program for post-paid smartphone customers

January 30, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - News, T-mobile

If you’re like us, keeping a smart phone for two years really isn’t an option. After about 6 months of ownership the honeymoon is over; after 9 months you begin to obsess over a few battle scars your phone has acquired, and by month 12 you are actively seeking your phone’s demise so you have an excuse to buy the latest and greatest. Starting immediately, T-Mobile will be offering post-paid smartphone customers on a two year contract — or feature phone owners looking to upgrade to a smartphone — two tiers of upgrade pricing… as long as you are willing to renew your two year deal. The move is aimed at curbing the number of customers jumping from T-Mobile to other networks, specifically AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Customers will be eligible for a “tier 1″ discount if they have had their phone for 1-11 months, are currently in a two year contract, and have an individual voice plan that is $29.99 or higher — $49.99 or higher for family plans — and are upgrading to, or buying a new smartphone. Customers qualify for “tier 2″ pricing when they are in a two year contract, have an individual voice plan that is $29.99 or higher — $49.99 or higher for family plans — are between months 12-21 of their two year contract, and are upgrading to, or buying a new, smartphone. The exact discount pricing hasn’t been made available yet, but TmoNews speculates that a myTouch 3G, which retails for $400, would cost those that qualify for the “tier 2″ pricing around $240.

Verizon wants to make changes in wireless plans

January 17, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Announcements, Rumor, Verizon

Rumor has been going around lately that Verizon Wireless was about to change up its wireless plans. Looks like Verizon is tired of the rumors, and has issued a press release detailing the changes that are about to go in effect on Monday January 18. The changes are mixed, some being welcome changes, some seeming to almost be a step backwards in terms of customer relations.

The first big change for Verizon is the introduction of new Unlimited Talk and Unlimited Talk & Text plans. The plans will cost $69.99 and $89.99 per month, respectively. Those plans will allow for unlimited calling to anyone, and unlimited texting to anyone, possibly eliminating the annoying calling bubbles the current plans provide. The family plans for each will cost $119.99 for Unlimited Talk and $149.99 for Unlimited Talk & Text, which includes the first two lines.

Google has sold over 20.000 Nexus Ones

January 14, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Google Android, Motorola, Nexus One, T-mobile, iPhone

Many analysts have predicted Google’s Nexus One would sell between 5 and 6 million units by the end of 2010. According to data from app analytics firm Flurry, only about 20,000 Nexus Ones were sold in the first week since launch, January 5 through January 12.

Compared to the 250,000 Motorola Droids or the 1.5 million iPhone 3GS’s this figure is clearly a low number. Granted we can’t always trust third party analytics (which is exactly why we’re filing this under ‘Rumors’), data from Flurry still supported a much larger first week by the Droid and iPhone 3GS. When you consider Google did their best to keep the device a secret and really hasn’t explored much in the way of advertising outside of their website and own ad network, there is still a large potential for the device to grow. I think the tell-all sign of the Nexus One will come when the device launches officially on Verizon since T-mobile is still the smallest of the big four US carriers.
