We just got a tip that Orange UK would be the first carrier in Europe to launch a Pay As You Go BlackBerry device. Here’s the deal: it’s an exclusive-colored BlackBerry 8120 (Indigo, which is available on T-Mobile USA, might just be an UK exclusive) that will sell for £145. What about the monthly fee? A laughable £5/month. A pretty awesome deal that we’re told launches tomorrow. You can also most likely look for the PAYG service to color-up the rest of the BlackBerry devices Orange UK offers over time, provided this goes well. We guess we were right about BlackBerrys coming in boxes. Any Orange folks out there interested in picking up one of these?

With WCDMA 1700 and 2100 MHz support, the Sony Ericsson TM506 is set for a T-mobile launch. While the last Sony Ericsson to sell on the carrier’s network was the T610 back in July 2003, the recent launch of the 1700 MHz band is well deserving for some SE love. Although T-mobile has not confirmed the device and we only have FCC filings to go by, the last of the big four carriers to launch a 3G network is the only likely candidate to make use of the 1700 / 2100 MHz bands. Though it’s not a free 3G iPhone as O2 is offering, T-Mobile Germany will be offering their 8GB 3G iPhone for as low as 1 euro with a 69 euro contract. The 16GB model will go for as low as 39.95 euro or 19.95 euro with the 69 or 89 euro plan.
Over on the US side, AT&T will sell the 8GB 3G iPhone for a fixed price of $199 no matter which plan the customer picks.
Retailers have drastically dropped the price of the previous iPhone in anticipation for the 3G iPhone and carriers are heavily subsidizing it in order to woo more customers.

If you’re going cross-eyed looking at the front of T-Mobile‘s new T229 flip from Samsung, you’re not the only one, we seriously thought it was some weird mistake in the press materials before we realized that Samsung was just trying to mix things up a bit by skewing the secondary display off to the side. We’re not so sure how we feel about that, but with a VGA camera, 160 x 128 screen, and an utter lack of WiFi or 3G to keep us interested, odds are we’ll never have to worry about it too much.
